Provar welcomes international interns and recent graduates in horticulture, agriculture and related fields who are looking to gain practical experience abroad.
As an established South African company specialising in independent cultivar and rootstock evaluation, Provar offers an excellent environment for graduates to develop their skills and gain exposure to the horticultural research industry.
Interns can gain hands-on experience in orchard and laboratory evaluations, fruit quality assessments, data collection and research activities. Working alongside experienced researchers also provides valuable insight into South Africa’s commercial fruit industry.
Learning Through Experience
Italian agronomist Andrea Bossolasco completed a postgraduate internship at Provar between December 2022 and February 2023.
During his internship, Andrea participated in cultivar evaluations across several fruit crops, including apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries and table grapes. He gained experience in experimental data analysis, post-harvest research and digital data management using Culteva™.

Beyond his professional development, Andrea valued the opportunity to experience South African culture and build relationships with local researchers and industry professionals.
“I highly recommend a similar experience to students or recent graduates eager to challenge themselves in an international and dynamic context.”
— Andrea Bossolasco, former Provar intern, Italy
