Organising a fruit tasting involves more than preparing samples. From setting up scorecards and managing participants to collecting feedback and reviewing results, the process can quickly become time-consuming.
Culteva™ Tastings brings these activities into one digital platform. Designed for fruit researchers, cultivar evaluators and industry organisations, the module simplifies the management of tasting events, from preparation through to results.
1. Prepare your tasting event
Organisers can create an event within Culteva™, specifying the date, venue and fruit varieties to be assessed.
Each event uses a digital scoring protocol tailored to its objectives. Organisers can define characteristics such as sweetness, crunchiness, flavour and overall preference, along with their scoring scales and relative importance.
Tasting samples can also be linked to their variety, growing site and harvest date, keeping important information connected to the results.
Once the event is set up, organisers can generate a printable tasting manifest with unique QR codes for each sample.
2. Scan, score and submit. No downloads required.
Participating in a Culteva™ tasting is straightforward.
There is no application to download or install. Participants simply open their smartphone camera, scan the QR code on the tasting manifest and are directed to the relevant digital scorecard in their web browser.
The browser-based interface guides participants through each characteristic, allowing them to assign scores, select descriptive tags and add comments.
Once submitted, responses are recorded digitally and linked to the corresponding tasting sample.
This eliminates paper scorecards and manual data entry, while making it easy for participants to contribute using their own devices.
3. Review and share tasting results
Organisers can access results for their tasting events through the Culteva™ platform, with participant scores linked to the relevant samples.
When an event is marked as complete, participants who provided their email addresses automatically receive the tasting results.
Currently, reporting is available at individual event level. Expanded reporting capabilities, including analysis across multiple events, are planned for future development.
4. Manage your tasting community
For organisations that conduct tastings regularly, Culteva™ provides a way to manage participant information.
Organisers can maintain confidential contact lists and invite tasters to upcoming events, making it easier to engage an established group of participants over time.
Each organisation’s contact information remains private to that organisation.
A practical tool for fruit research and industry
Culteva™ Tastings can be used independently or alongside the broader Culteva™ cultivar evaluation platform.
It is suitable for internal research panels, cultivar comparison sessions, eating-quality assessments and consumer tasting events.
By combining straightforward event management with browser-based scoring, Culteva™ Tastings makes it easier to organise tastings, encourage participation and collect structured sensory feedback.
